Cooperative Container Gardening

Here is my World Environment Day Message to all of my readers. "Cooperative gardening." That is you form a group among your peers, friends, neighbors etc and each member grows a different plant(vegetable) and share the vegetables with each other.

Being June 5, I have seen several people saying "Go Green" "Plant a Tree" so on and so forth. What I have for you in this post is quite easy to do and you can literally reap the benefits.

I'm sure all of us have heard the numerous benefits of organic fruits and vegetables like
  • pesticide free
  • better for your health
  • tastier
  • fresher
but none of us want to buy them because they are costlier or because of the lack of availability.

Why not make a kitchen garden. It isn't that difficult, it gives you fresh, pesticide free and delicious vegetables.

Your excuse might be you don't have enough land or that you live in a flat. I'm sure you will either have a terrace or at least a balcony.

Container gardening is a good way to handle this problem. Container gardening is the practice of growing plants exclusively in containers instead of planting them in the ground. Pots, traditionally made of terracotta but now more commonly plastic, and windowboxes have been the most commonly seen.

The easiest vegetables to grow are peas, tomatoes, potatoes and chilies.

Here is a list of reasons why you should have a container garden.

  • Easy to maintain
  • Low cost
  • Organic
  • Freshens Environment
  • Gardening can relieve stress
With a cooperative garden you don't need to grow different varieties you can become an expert in growing one plant.

I believe this is something all environmentalists should give importance to.
